Hello from the Western Isles...

...Gateway to Rockall.

Hi, I've been a 'lurker' for a couple of years now: since the shutter release fell off my aged MX and I bought a K10D, in fact.
I'm not normally a forum-joiner, but I've kept coming back to this one, so I sneaked up on myself and joined at last.
And then didn't say hello. So a few days late, hello folks.

Al

Cheers folks! I'll have to upload some efforts onto a hosting site first... and then re-read how to post them on here... but I'll do my best to oblige.

polchraine, too late, we've been Sabbath-breaking at the airport for years.

Thanks again for the welcome, all.

Lewis is God's forgotten little acre. How I envy you for the photo ops but not the weather. Never mind just think no rain = no whisky. Where's the fun in that.

Welcome from me too Conky. In June last year I spent 10 days on Lewis and Harris on a photo shoot. Fabulous scenery. Loved it. Very short nights - was up before dawn and to bed after sunset - not much sleep - unless it rained!! (which it did sometimes - thank goodness).
Cheers
John

Thanks guys, we certainly do get a lot of weather up here, the last couple of days have been a bit like this...

...and the place certainly looks a lot more appealing on a sunny day.
The only down side of the short summer nights is the short winter days, but battening down the hatches beside a peat fire and with a soothing glass of something restorative takes some beating.
