Hi Paul, I am a relatively new Pentaxian (and new to "serious" photography).
A pal of mine has an Olympus - he has an entry level (E520?) from a few years ago. It takes lovely shots and handles really well- I think the Olympus kit lenses seem very good- handling wise it knocks spots off the Nikon D5000 that I sometimes use at work.
Don't get me wrong though , the K5 is on another level as you would expect
He is looking for a wide angle lens for his Olympus- anything non-Pentax is not permitted on PU but if you PM me I will pass on your details to him- a deal could be done! Then you could buy some more lovely ltd primes.

Welcome Paul, I did the same as you a while go, I had an E520, which I liked, but I decided to switch to Pentax as I found the four-thirds sensor too noisy at high ISO. I first bought a K7, now got a K5, and am very glad I made the switch!

I used to admire Olympus cameras in the days of film. They were neat, carefully made and had lovely little lenses. I bought my wife one, in fact! They made an error, to my way of thinking, in introducing such a small sensor when things went digital. I know they've improved noise-control but it's still a feature.
Now it looks as though they're giving up on DSLRs to concentrate on EVIL cameras which are beaten by Samsung and Sony's efforts...

I have just bought my first Pentax camera, a K5, about 4 weeks ago.
I've been using DSLRs for about 3 years and was very happy with my Olympus kit (E3,E510, host of lens) but always been interested in Pentax too.
Anyway for me the Oly E5 was not a value for money upgrade and appears to be a dead end.
I used a K5 in a shop, loved the size,ergonomics and primes.
It's taking a little while to get used to after the Olympus kit but I am loving some of its features and the shots I get from it.
Will be looking to sell all my Oly kit now I think
