Hello and welcome,
I joined after a similar length of break from photography. I bought a K100D super in November and started with jpgs as you are intending to do. When I got to grips with the camera a bit I progressed to RAW earlier this month, and have begun a new adventure with post processing. My, what a big field that is, but I have made some pleasing (to me) images.
So, good luck.

Nice to see that I'm not alone out there.. Sounds like you've had quite an adventure.. I think the only thing I can do is learn to walk before I run!

I thought it best to quickly introduce myself.
Having been away from the film SLR area for about 16 years, I recently began to get excited about Photography again. Having looked hard into What Camera to begin building myself up on, I was strongly advised to go for the K10 over the competition. Besides this, it was comfortable to hold - Something I was always taught..
Having come from film SLR, I can already appreciate what different apertures and Shutter speeds can do to an image - I just have to remember, that's all! I'm going to be shooting most in jpeg format to begin with before moving over to RAW (and this is where I think I'm going to be needing some help!) I'm certainly not used to post-processing
I've been looking on the Forum for about a month now and gaining a lot of inspiration from everyone - I cannot explain how excited I am at getting behind the viewfinder again.
I'm getting my new Kit on Friday next - the K10 (with the 18-55 Lens) & Battery Grip along with the Sigma 70-300 Zoom/Macro Lens.
Once I get comfortable using the K10, I'll start posting the occasional image for opinions, advice and learning..
Anyway, that's me..
With kind Regards,
Phil.
