Have been given an old zenit em with this lens

On the front: HELIOS-44M 2/58. Does this mean its a 44mm screw thread to attach it, I usually see them advertised as m42. Thought I might keep it to use with a bellows (which I haven't got yet )

Thanks for that. Luck would have it the instruction booklet for the camera was in another bag containing a "Coronet" marked on a lever which is a foldy up thing camera. Wonder if anyone knows anything about those

44M 2 is the model no. The latest are 44M 7.
Some of them are very good and later doesn't always
mean better.

Was it made at the shishkebab factory. You can tell from
the drawing on the lens

I found a rather complicated thread on (IIRC) the US forum describing that some 44M-3 & 44M-7 etc. lenses (but not the M44-2) needed the focus ring machining back to achieve infinity focus on SP bodies because it fouled the body for some reason: link

I'm not sure what that one is..... It doesn't seem to
be listed on this site... The shishkebab is at the bottom.

It's possibly the Dove Prism logo used by KMZ

I had a mk2 and a mk4, both awesome lenses on Oly DSLRs(116mm was a dream for headshots)
