No, you have no more of a problem than anyone else with a Sigma 10-20mm who may have experienced similar things.
I am not qualified to go into the science and specifics of light and lenses, but i am sure others will be able to explain how and why this issue can occur. However, it can be easily fixed in processing in Photoshop or other software.

It's flare. The light is reflecting within the lens and causing the double image.
The Pentax SMC coating is very efficient at avoiding flare, and the new HD coating even more so.

In reply to David, yes, there is a filter on, but it makes no difference on or off. Fletcher and John, thanks for commenting. I think I need to try the same photograph using a different lens.

Camera is a Pentax K-30, Lens is the Sigma 10-20mm. For this particular photograph Focal Length was f11, Exposure was 1 second and the ISO was 100.
I've never noticed this lens effect before. Does anyone know if it is a problem or just a characteristic of the lens?
