hand-holdable shutter speeds

Hi

With 35mm film cameras a rule of thumb was that the minimum hand-holdable shutter speed was 1/focal length of the lens (eg. 50mm lens say 1/60 sec). Does anybody know how this translates to point and shoot digicams? I have an Optio S4 and the lens zooms from 5.8 - 17.4mm.

Anyone got any idea?

Well, I guess it's the same. Does your EXIF data contain equivalent focal lengths? If not, you would have to find out the size of the chip in the Optio and convert the focal lengths yourself.
