Half way There

Thanks guys, a properly set white balance does wonders for the skin tones. I now have good colors on my LCD. Are these colors going to be there when they are printed. The reason I ask is when I up load to the computer the colors are not the same. Skin slightly yellow and white looks light grey. Noticable difference in the whole spectrum. Is this just my computer? If I upload these to a print lab will I see what is on the camera or what is on the computer?

Firstly, are you using RAW or jpeg? If you are using RAW the manual white balance is recorded (I think!) in the header of the image but the image is, well RAW If you are using jpeg then it will be applied to the image by the camera.

Secondly, you may need to calibrate the monitor. Not all computer monitors show the colours and brightness correctly and there can be subtle differences. There are various threads on here about monitor calibration.

Thirdly, some 'colour spaces' do not show up properly on monitors so you need to check if you are using Adobe RGB or sRGB etc.

Lastly, for high quality images you need to make sure that you are using the colour profile for your printer / printing service. See Mattmatic's sticky on colour profiles.
