A new K7 with the KX sensor? Please?

TBH, I think a lot of Pentaxians would be with you. Another note on this, the Kx probably also now has lower noise than the Ni-kon D300s as far as jpg's go, the K7 was lower noise using RAW.
Let's wait and see what the company does. If they do release another "top" model, it will not be until February next year at the earliest.
Regards

I've done some comparative tests and the K-x high ISO Raw is also better, it has far less chroma noise than the K-7 sensor. Even in Raw I would say it has a clear 1 stop advantage, it actually looks more!
I think a K-7x (or maybe a K-5?) with a non magnesium (stainless frame) WS body with the same sensor and shutter as the K-x, and without the level ding-dong gizmos, could be priced between the K-x and K-7. I could find that an attractive proposition. I wouldn't find a K200 level spec interesting, I would want at least K20D user controls and spec level.
In fact I would actually be extremely happy if it used the same body shell and batteries as my K20D, but I suspect that that design is now yesteryears.

From tests that I've seen the K-X is indeed better at high ISO but the K-7 has the edge in low iso and actually show less artefacts then the K-X there.
Since I hardly shoot over iso400 I know what I will get
Also it seems that the K-X use a harsher noise reduction so you will lose details but since there are hardly any comparison out there it's hard to say.

I can't be the only one thinking this. The new Kx is about 1.5 stops cleaner than the K7 in all noise tests that I've seen. (Even after adjusting for the megapixel difference)
This is not a matter of simply wanting. I need this ability for the kind of work that I do, as I'm sure others do also.
I feel a little cheated, after having bought the K7, to see that this "entry level" camera outperforms it. Pentax needs install this new awesome sensor and release a "K7 Super". I'd snatch it up in the blink of an eye.

That would be a logical step.I can't be the only one thinking this. The new Kx is about 1.5 stops cleaner than the K7 in all noise tests that I've seen. (Even after adjusting for the megapixel difference)

1. Only the RAW tests should be taken notice of because NR is applied to JPEGs.I can't be the only one thinking this. The new Kx is about 1.5 stops cleaner than the K7 in all noise tests that I've seen. (Even after adjusting for the megapixel difference)
2. Do these tests take into account the metering differences between the two cameras? The K-7 exposes more highly ("to the right") than the K-x.

but that should benefit the K-7, not the K-x.2. Do these tests take into account the metering differences between the two cameras? The K-7 exposes more highly ("to the right") than the K-x.
Anyway, to be comparable any noise images surely must be taken at the same shutter speed and aperture under the same conditions
you don't have to be mad to post here
but it does help
but it does help

Only if the K-x results are pushed in post processing to match the K-7's exposure. And also not if a higher ISO setting is selected when auto ISO is on.iceblinker wrote:

I hope so, and same ISO.
