Keep a check on "Local Groups and Meetings" link, or start a thread and see who might be interested.

I know it works in quite a few areas.

There are lots of us in the Sheffield area, not sure if this is too far from you?

i am in Stroud ,have managed to get as far north as Stratford. always happy to go somewhere new but depends on distance this time of year to make it worth while with the short daylight hours.

Probably would be better to wait for Spring. By the time we'd met centrally it would be time to drive home again
I'm in Coventry and I was wondering if there were any groups too.

I'm in South Warwickshire. Never been on a group shoot, could be interested in trying this.

I'm in Lichfield, did arrange one meet and only one other member turned up, perhaps it was the destination, the German War Graves on Cannock Chase.

Good stuff. A trip to the Arboretum near Burton would be worth a trip too maybe?

I have a trip in mind a bit further South, but we need to wait for the right weather conditions. My recent posts were shot where I'm thinking of, it's easy to get to but could be unexceptional unless the timing is right. It would be accessible from Sheffield, East Midlands, South of England or from the West Midlands if you don't mind a short to medium length drive.

Keep eyes open for more details if the conditions come right.

Our motorway system makes it possible to travel quite long distances for a day out with other photographers from other areas. Its rewarding to meet photographers whose work you admire and spend a day sharing picture making, coffee, bacon sarnies, or even a beer if you're not the driver.
Barrie and I have been all the way to the East Lancashire Railway to meet up with CliffP several times on a day out basis. The last time Neil (Gtis), from Barnsley, was also there and Pete Webber made it by train from the Nottingham area. The previous day we met locally at Beamish Museum along with Alan, (Blythman) and Neil turned up there as well as did another Alan (Fat Spider) and his wife.
At the Whitby Goths I've met quite a few members of this forum, among them Carl (Fritzthedog), Dave (Hardgravity), Gareth (Greyreynolds)and Gary (K10D). Barrie has been to more of these meets than I have.
It becomes a social occasion as well as a photography expedition.
The first meet I went on was to Sherwood Forest, along with a former member Ken (Beginner) and it was there I met Fatspider for the first time and had a brief chat with Womble.
