Doesn't really do it for me in this state. You could try mono (B&W) with high contrast - maybe even pop the colour on the bottle? I'd also clone out the debris in the top third. That would leave you with a cleaner pic concentrating on the sunken bottle and shadows. Or maybe just just half an hour of wasted time...

I think the grass isn't really pristine enough, for the statement about litter to really have the impact you'd want.

And the pattern created by the shadows isn't interesting enough to make the contrast a feature in its own right.

It was worth a go, but it doesn't really come off IMHO.

Its a bottle floating in duckweed or something similar.

There is a nice balance between light and shade. The diagonal line gives a dynamic element. The bottle jars (ha) a little and creates a 3d element to what is mostly a 2d image. its the point of interest, a question.

I'd say if printed up, bigger and you can make out the tiny leaves it might increase the impact. Also the old fave of making it a tad more vivid perhaps. Hyper green.

Its a tough one. I took a picture of a bike rack to an art lecturer , he dismissed it as having no merit. Other people liked the simplicity of the pattern (inlcuding me).

On its own, its not much, its waiting for more images with a similar simple bold colour based litter theme. Have a look at the colour wheel and go find an oil slick. Then stick them together.

Yes dougf8 is bang on it is a bottle floating in duckweed. Good idea about making it part of a series too.

I deliberately didn't mention it was a pond just to see if it was apparent. One of my problems with this pic is that I thought it wasn't clear what the green stuff was. Thanks ChrisA for confirming it wasn't just me I also agree with what you said about the shadow and I'm leaning towards your conclusion as well

Funny that - I wondered for a moment if it was astroturf, since it was so short, but rejected that idea since the bottle was sitting too low. I didn't look closely enough to work it out properly.

Nice illusion - I guess that adds a modicum of interest, but still not enough for me.

I like the idea Tim but I dont think its come off either, it just looks like a noisy image of a bottle pressed into some grass, or is it a crop and I can see evidence of some noise anyway

One thing that would inprove it would be to clone out all the other distractions and imperfections in the surface of the weed.

If this is a local pond I would be tempted to go back with a bright yellow duck and get one with more detail in the weed, assuming its accessible of course.

Aha Impotentspider you have hit on one of my other problems with this image - it looks noisy! Unfortunately it is hardly cropped at all, so I can't even blame that Nice idea with the duck, I might see if I can do something about that. The pond is only a couple of miles away. In fact I took another photo of it which I'm also not sure about, will start a new thread for that one

Another thing to do is return at different times and weather conditions and take 4 images all from the same position and see how it changes over time. Get a long pole and move the stunt bottle about for interest.
