Great Photographs

So, what happens when I find a great photograph to share though a link to a news website or flikr or photobucket?

Am I allowed to share the image here? Or will you all be starved of seeing a photograph in a million?

If, as I think you are, you are asking can you copy someone else's photograph to here, then probably not as it is copy righted. However, I can't see a problem with posting the link.

But maybe a moderator is best to advise

The forum is for members' Pentax images, so non-Pentax images when spotted or reported are removed and a PM sent to the poster. Obviously we don't have time to trawl through every image, so by and large we rely on the common sense of what is expected of a Pentax User site.

If there's something extraordinary that merits special attention of the Pentax community then probably a link in the General Chat section is the way to go, but "lifting" images from elsewhere is probably not the best idea.

Hope that helps!
Best regards, John

Provided the news website doesn't need a log-in, or worse payment, then why not post a link to the picture under general chat?

I enjoy seeing other photos, even if they aren't made with a Pentax. There are often some stunning ones on the BBC and Guardian sites.

Not so sure about Flickr links though.

I'd agree with the "just post a link to it" school of thought. Providing it isn't a Rickroll-style trap anyway!

I've posted quite a lot from some great photographers that use another brand or unknown camera.
I simply linked to their site, that's always allowed and I never had any problems with that.

Twice even the photographers self posted a comment to explain things, they are of course happy to see their work be a focus of attention.

Or worse yet, a goatse link (warning for the faint of heart, do NOT google it unless you are prepared to be quite possibly scarred for life)

Is that what you get for having a name like Mark Pain?

And I thought mine was bad

Well of course I had to. Am now going for a stiff drink, a few headache tablets, and perhaps some psychiatric care. Hopefully the nightmares wont last too long.

Of course I had to go all the way (which may not be an appropriate use of words, come to think of it.) Like Davex, I also need counselling, or maybe just a couple of bottles of Merlot. YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!! DON'T GO THERE!!

Like Gareth I stopped at the Wiki page. That was bad enough.

I can't have a drink to get over it - I have to collect my husband from the station in a while - he's currently sitting on a plane at CDG waiting for take-off.
