Great news for Flickr users!..

If you want to upload RAW then you need a cloud data storage solution, not a photo sharing website. You have photos over 200MB? My K200D, admittedly low resolution by today's standards produces RAWs that are around 16MB.

FYI I've been using the new flickr today and the layout changes aren't that big. I've had no problems whatsoever on chrome.

Flikr wont suport raw as raw is not viewable on the internet, which kind of defeats the point of a primarily photo sharing site...

Agree - that's why I use SmugMug...you can upload raw images with them.

Looks like there might be a silver lining. Just joined ipernity and did a test upload, and at first glance it seems much like the old flickr but with a more attractive look. Looks like a better option for putting sets of pictures on. If it's still ok after a road test I think it might be worth £20 a year for the full version.

I have a pro account - I have to admit that the new layout is odd - can't decide if I like it or not

I suppose time will tell but I have never been quick at making up my mind
K10D, K5 plus plenty of clueless enthusiasm.

Well they refunded me the whole year's pro subscription, which is pretty generous.

hate it with every single fibre of my being... unbelievably slow too.

anyone any idea how easy it would be to move over a huge amount of photos to an alternate (assuming theres one I like) and still keeping them in the sets they are in ? (I have over 300 sets and god knows how many phots - think it was well over 15, 000)

You could try Picasa Web Albums. I use it for web albums, it's simple and free, but part of the £oo£le empire

Does anybody know how to reclaim my account with flickr...

....I can't remember which email or pass word I used...

ipernity are writing a plug-in to move flickr images across in batches of 180. If yahoo don't back down I'll be moving my stuff over and cancelling my account/deleting all my flickr images.

I quite like the new layout (but wish it would actually work - even the help forum looked like it was down before). Started to see ads on there tonight with the inevitable slow-down

The problem as I see it though, is that wherever you move to might soon have a 'refresh' of their own. If you're paying nothing (or peanuts - and flickr pro [oops 'Ad Free'] is peanuts in the grand scale of things) you'll always be subject to the whims of their designers/commercial departments.

The only real alternative is your own hosting/website arrangement and that's an awful lot more aggro.

Looks like they're more interested in getting ads on there whilst the new layout is hot news...

I know. It'll take me a while to shift 3,000 images.

I have my own website but I only post a select few images there, whereas I used my flickr account as a utility rather than a gallery.
