What you need are lenses, more lenses, bigger lenses, better lenses, faster lenses, vintage lenses and when you have these, your pictures will be perfect!

Not really. It's more a case of operator indecisiveness! Don't like that touch screen though.

But does that account for the hunting though or am I missing something?

Then again and in hind sight, given DPR's disparaging attitude towards all things Pentax, it would suit their purpose to promote a bios video. What I did pick on the second time around was that the ISO set on the Olympus was 6500, whilst the GR was 5000. Not sure abouit the Panasonic. Perhaps we should just take it all with a pinch of salt anyway.

I wonder if snap autofocus was on and hindered the rest?

Hi,
It is my first day with this camera and I really like it. Only battery life is poor, ordered extra batteries, hope two is enough.

Isn't the GRiii a bit like a Pentax K-01 but with a fixed lens?

I don't think so, this camera is build for street photography.

Does that imply the K-01 isn't?

Don't get me wrong, You can use it but k-01 it's not that easy to use for street photography like GR.

I reckon that requires a bit of explanation.

First thing K-01 is much bigger, even with 40mm pancake lens. No touch screen, no snap focus and overall is not that fast like GR in all aspect (on/off, AF, intuitive quick menu etc.)

I have the K-01 and Ricoh GR III. I like them both but in use for me they have very little in common. Apparently it is very popular with street photographers. The K-01 and GR III share aps-c sensor form and shake reduction, however the GR has a 24 mp sensor, touch screen, is tiny, easily operated single handed, quick to start up and focus, built in memory, and a completely different menu system. It's been said before, but it really is a shirt pocket camera. I always had my original GR with me, and now the even smaller GR III has taken it's place. It's worth trying to get your hands on one to hold it and try it out, then pick up a K-01.

The K-01 does retain some advantages though, primarily that it will accept any K mount lens, and with Pentax Limiteds plus others, this is something of great value. It also has built in flash which might be a consideration. It does provide the smallest and lightest form factor for an aps-c Pentax, and I do wish that Ricoh would bring out a new and improved version. EVF, FF, tilt screen, shallower bodied with adapter, etc, i.e. a true mirrorless camera. Pity that there's little chance of that for the foreseeable future.
