hello, i want to take photos at gigs but want to be discreet so i am looking for a nice small camera that will get me good photos. My current problems when taking pics at gigs are getting things in focus and zooming in enough (im only small, so have to hold the camera high, and am often far back in the crowd)

any suggestions?

thanks

Are we talking big gigs or little gigs Dave?
If it's small club gigs just get in there and get the shot with whatever camera you have...

If you're serious about gig photography then being descrete can't be your priority... See if you can blag press passes from local magazines/blogsites (Vibrations in Leeds spring to mind) by offering to review for them, they can then approach promoter on your behalf...

Gary on this forum would be a good guy to talk to... Sure he'll pop up with some good advice soon...

Like Dave said just get stuck in, down front and centre. Does depend on the venue size though, if you are looking to smuggle into an arena I would suggest a Q with 50mm lens attached, will easily fit in the pocket and no one stops people with pocket cams at arenas any more.

For smaller venues the k-30 is ideal for gigs, fast focus, good at low light. Stick a 50mm 1.8 on it and away you go...

Thanks for the replies.

If you look carefully you will notice it was my daughter posting as davem junior. I will pass on your comments which almost echoed mine.

I'd clock'd that Dave (although I assumed it was a son not a daughter)... You shopping for a new camera then, or will she have loan of yours?
