Hi,

I would like to insure my gears. Do you have any company to suggest? Thank you!

I use these, seem reasonable.

you may find it is already covered on your home contents insurance or could be for a resonable increase in your premium

Look for the All Risks cover on you house insurance. Covers things taken out of the house.

I last looked at this about 4 years ago and the extra on the house insurance was around 10x less than stand alone insurance. There may be a requirement to name items over a certain value but it is usually still a lot cheaper on the house insurance.
As with all insurance, don't forget to check the small print, exclusions and conditions though. Theft from parked cars are a favourite exclusion, for instance. Best to be aware of the cover details.

Theft from unattended vehicles is usually included in stand alone policies

I think many will cover locked vehicles with certain caveats. Mine is not at night, not if it is practical to remove it (such as at home) in a padded bag and locked in the boot or under a cover.

Most of the companies are good. Check rules on going abroad etc. Some want you to list every item you own, others just want everything over £100 and a total for the rest.

However, if you are thinking about E&L who are very cheap, check out this, this or just search to find hundreds of similar pages.

If considering specific photo insurance, check all the exclusions very carefully. I saw one, where the theft from cars was additional and even then subject to the following:

1) Theft from cars with central locking was excluded.
2) Theft from cars with remote boot release was excluded.
3) Theft from hatchbacks was excluded.
4) Theft from an estate car was (surprising) covered as long as the cloth 'security cover' was drawn across.

It also required all alarms to be set and doors locked between the hours of 9pm and 9am for the property where the gear was to be kept.

I was thinking about my own policy which realises that a pro might be seen depositing gear in a car and going back into the shoot. The policy also includes professional indeminity and employers liability which many wont need

That includes every car I've ever owned! Current estate has the security cover but has central locking. Every car is only as secure as a piece of glass.

I used http://www.photoguard.co.uk/ to insure my gear. They were very reasonable. No excess to pay. Took premiums on a monthly basis if needed. When I had a claim for some damage to my K-x. It was settled within four days. They were always in touch. Brilliant service. Personally I will never look elsewhere.
