My, you were close.

Actually I wasn't as close as it appears, there's so much image definition with the K-1 sensor it cropped really well.
Uncropped image:
Suppose ideally I could have used a longer lens but seems it didn't really matter.
If that's not an advert for the K-1 I don't know what is!
A good job there's no AA filter to destroy definition.
So much for NOT relying on photos straight out of the camera, but the only edit is the cropping.

Impressive. I guess a one sixth of a frame crop is about the same size in pixels as a one quarter of a K3 frame that I often get away with.

Original image: 7376x4932
Cropped image: 681x605
So the width is less than 1/10 of the original.
Had the camera been set to APS-C the full width would be 4800 pixels (the actual image would still the same size, albeit cropped in camera) so that makes it about 1/7 crop (linear value, not squared) from APS-C.
I reckon the squirrel needs to visit the chiropodist to get his toe nails clipped!

Cracking image...not a whisker out of place!
As you say a great advert for the K-1 (combined with 100mm macro as well)

Thanks for the complimentary comments, You'll gather I was pretty chuffed to get that end result from that image.

That's an extraordinary crop and quality! Who needs a telephoto lens now, just get a K1 and a 50mm and shoot everything wide to crop later !
You had us well fooled .... The image shows off plenty of other qualities as well, strong contrast and rich colours. You must be very pleased. Now, lets see what you can capture with a 560mm lens

If I'd used a longer lens I would probably have suffered from camera shake and frightened off the beast with him thinking its a blunderbuss. Then if I'd gone indoors for a longer lens he'd no doubt have moved on and I wouldn't have had a photo at all (been there, done that in the past. Net result nothing!)
Focussing wasn't an issue. I say this because some seem to say they end up focussing on branches rather than the subject. The secret is just to use centre spot, Pentax Spotmatic style! Multi focus points would have ensured it wasn't in focus.

The comment I wanted to make would have got me banned, I'm sure JR would frown upon the expletives I was going to use.
I'll just have to settle for "Effin L"
If I had the cash I might just change my mind about Full Frame
