Great shots Derek, I like all of them.
The Sigma 105 is a great lens and useful for so much more than macros. Try it for portraiture, it is probably the best portrait lens I've ever used. The skin tones it produces are sublime.
If you're into macro, have you seen the threads from a couple of years back about the 'butchered zoom'? That's a great avenue to pursue if you like taking images of tiny things.

Couldn't agree more. I use one and A series f1.7s are cheap these days.

I seem to remember reading about that on here before.
Is it a de-glassed zoom with a reversing ring and another lens attached to the front ?
The mount end becoming the front element ?

It's a zoom, ideally of around 35-80 focal length with the glass removed, but aperture working. This is mounted to the camera as normal then mounted onto the filter ring of the lens is a reversed enlarger lens. I use a Nikon F2.8, can't recall the exact model. This setup allows for sharp images at extreme macro levels. Here are a few I took of Damselflies & other things in the back garden:

ive got a Sirius push pull zoom with the (A) setting that might make an ideal candidate for de glassing

JAK, the camera has to be in AF mode for catch in focus to work also shutter release button set to enable focus not set to off for back button focusing. so camera in AF ,lens set to MF then adjust focus or simply move the camera and when it hits camera fires
this was using CIF, Tamron Adaptall 90mm f2.5 1:2 Macro lens +Teleplus 1.5x converter

How do you switch the lens to manual to use with CIF? I'd love to be able to do this but can't figure out how it can be done.

Mmm. Not sure about that David.
As far as I remember I have used at lenses in the past when trying to shoot bif with cif by just switching to mf on body and lens if it had it. Body only if it didn't. Won't get a chance to check it for a while due to some " minor" home improvements.
The absolute joys and woes of an inquisitive mind and a lifetime spent working in all building trades.
My fav bit at the minute.

I can empathise with you Derek on the 'Home Improvements' front. I seem to have done little else for the past 2 years, converted the entire cellar areas of our Victorian house into a music room, bar area, laundry room and workshop / storage area. Very hard work, good luck with your improvements and hope you get finished quicker than I have!

I have seen the photos of your savage home improvements, they put mine to shame, design wise anyway, mine are nothing so grand, just making a flat for my son, so new stairs from 2nd sitting room up to the bedroom. Ensuite, new kitchen, separate heating system, new front and back entrances. Existing house still has 5 double bedrooms so we aren't stuck for space.
Next is to redo his old rooms and ensuite for my daughter. Having already redone her old room.
Pressure is off slightly as he moved in today. So
I know what i like, If not always why.
