Full frame compact - any ideas

Given the quality of phone cameras these days, my iphone is my compact.

As we specialise in Pentax on this site it's probably not the best place to ask the question. The compact of choice for Pentax users is probably the discontinued MX-1, which is not full frame but is a fantastic camera. It's highly sought after.

Thanks for this, John, and apologies if any offence caused, not my intent. The reason for the post was that there is so much photographic expertise here that I just wondered if anyone had any suggestions. It's the full frame element that I have found so interesting on the K1ii hence my interest in a full frame compact.
I also appreciated your comment about the MX-1, didn't know about that, (confirms my point about expertise)
I take on board Peter's comment about phone cameras, that was a good point.

No offence taken. Perhaps a glance through the various reviews on ePHOTOzine would help? It's the sister site to this one and covers all marques in detail.
Best regards, John

This highlights the disappointment that Pentax failed to develop the compact digital MX line. The images produced by the MX-1 are quite incredible for its small sensor. By now there should be an up-to-date Pentax option for the OP and others to be able to consider, e.g. with 1-inch sensor, viewfinder, and hot-shoe. It would be a stunner.

Thanks, again, John, I've looked at the ePHOTOzine site a few times, really informative and helpful. I also relate to Philip's comment about the MX line, his point is well made. And yes, knowing Pentax, it would be a stunner.
To all, many thanks for contributing to this thread. My search will continue!

Um, blimey - having just looked at Leica Q prices, you can do so much more for that money. Is it really worth it for a 24Mp FF compact when you can get a GRIII and save multiple bundles of £1000? I guess it may be a case of really wanting it, but not for me (a used M10 for similar money may be a different proposition).

Raging agreement, John, which is why I have found the comments in this thread so useful. I don't want to pay for a 'logo', hence my original question. The GRIII comment was especially helpful, thank you. 👍
It's the full frame, fixed lens, in a compact camera that's providing the challenge. Ah, well, one can wait (for an updated M10? - I think I'd be killed in the rush )

FF compacts are few and far between. Sony does one with a 35mm f/2 lens but I think it's a little long in the tooth (for a digital) these days. The best suggestion I can make is an upgrade to the X100V, which has been shown to have a considerably improved lens when compared to the older versions of the X100. It's APS-C but looks to me like it's pretty much perfect in every way (except price!).

Really helpful, Jonathan-Mac, thank you. I have the X100F and love it, a great street camera. The X100V looks awesome as well. Your comment on the Sony resonated as I had just been looking at exactly what you mentioned just now 👍 The Sony does interest me as a full frame option. There are some really good reviews on the A7 models.

The key point for me is compact, which is why I really like my X100F and will keep it. But a full frame equivalent? I'm still stuck. Any thoughts, recommendations would be welcomed.
Be well, stay well all.
