If you own an M* 300mm you'll know it already has a built in hood - but Pentax manufactured a separate, dedicated screw-in hood for use with a 77mm circular polarising filter since the filter would prevent the built-in hood from being pulled out.
It is the same as this one that SRS had for sale until the other day:
