The winter was grim in Jesmond Cemetery, Newcastle's well known 19th century burial place. I was amazed how overgrown this sacred place had become. But it was a photographer's paradise. C+C welcome, and yes, I know #3 is leaning.
That's the angle at which it was leaning and I left it like that.

I do enjoy poking about and photograpohing old ceneteries, David. These are wonderful. I particularly like no.2, but they're all strong shots.
Best wishes,

Andrew

Must say I like No 2. A rather sombre reminder of the transient and ephemeral nature of our time on the planet, which the conversion enhances.

And on that cheerful note....

The close ups are good too David, well worth the visit.

Rather sad story to the last shot.

Although I like #1 I find #2 works better - evokes a feeling for the era of these stones and there is less modern day intrusion from the roof tops of the houses in the background.

Thanks for the comments so far. I'm uploading another from the same shoot, this one shows just how overgrown the cemetery is and also how cold it was.

The latest shot is my favourite. I do like cemeteries for photography, especially in autumn/winter.

Looks like a fascinating one to visit.

Number 3 is my favourite

I will leave you guys to this grave yard stuff as interesting as it is they are not my favourite places.

#1 is a little untidy as to what the subject is, the walkway through the graveyard splits the image. if taken more to the right this could have been avoided & made the headstones the main subject with them being in the foreground & background.

#2 i like classic use for rule of thirds, would have liked to have seen the image a little more exposed as i feel there is more detail to be had out of that head stone.

#3 could be a little wider to read all the headstone but good exposure.

#4 the plant shadows are very annoying & ruin for me what is a well executed composition.

you have convinced me to shoot some graveyards now next week
