Fountains Abbey & Studley Royal

A fantastic place for a day out if you're in or around Ripon, North Yorkshire. Even better if you are a National Trust member as it's expensive to get in if not.

Critique always welcomed, all shots are with the K-3, lenses are a mix of Sigma 17-70 f2.8-4 DC HSM OS and Pentax DA*50-135.

8. An explanation of this one; it's the water wheel at Fountains Abbey Mill, shot at a slow shutter speed to produce this abstract image.

Excellent set,
The lines in that first one are brilliant, cracking shot. 10 also.
They're all excellent with well thought out compositions and view points.
Looks like a cracking spot to visit.

Too many to really pick out faves but 1,3,4,10,11 and 12 pop for me.
Always love going through your posts.

👏👏👏
I know what i like, If not always why.

The first one is my favourite. Great place to visit. I was there a couple of years ago.

Lots of film bodies, a couple of digital ones, too many lenses (mainly older glass) and a Horseman LE 5x4.

Yep, love the 'eye' you've shown to get that first one.

I've taken similar ones to no. 4 myself there but never got anything as good as that - there's something really pleasing about the light in that little spot isn't there.

Like everyone else I think the first is probably my favourite but number 5 is close, love the "framing" of the shot.

1, 5 and 8 for me. I like abstract shots like 8.

I've never been but am adding it to my wishlist.

A classic set, with number one as a definite contender for National Trust cover photograph.

A most enjoyable set. Good compositions and lovely colours in all, with some great shapes particularly in 1 and 4.

Super set David, I do really like the first and last ones.

We must get together again soon.

The jackdaws are super and, like the rest of the tribe, the first one really stands out.
Both the *istDS and the K5 are incurably addicted to old glass

First class David. Like everyone else I vote the first one top of the league but there's quality and wide variety in all these images.

Used to live in Ripon and visit FA quite often, not changed a bit since I left in 2003.

Really nice set of images.

Very nice David... you get a strong feel for the place from your set... particularly like the first one for your framing and strong lines, as well as the quirkiness of the last one...

Best
