It is tough competition but I have thrown my hat into the ring!
I am very surprised that we didn't get many more entries. Maybe the lighter evenings have worked against the topic. I suspect night comes early where the good doctor lives.

I thought "only two entries, I'm in with a chance". By the time I'd taken the photo there were eight , so that now makes nine. Not bad for this competition. It's definitely a feature of the fortnightly competition that people wait until the last minute .
Good to see Lilly back entering too.
Robert.

It was an experiment. I stuck the lens from my old ME Super on my K20 to get the wider aperture, set the ISO to Auto over the entire 200 - 3200 range (with the extended dynamic range set on), and went out for a walk for quarter of an hour to see what I came back with. It was late already, I should have been in bed, and I didn't want to mess about with a tripod.
I fully intended to end up with a grainy black and white shot, but I ended up preferring the picture as it came out of the camera. I think our local street lights give a green cast with the auto white balance, but I ended up liking that - it gave it an image intensifier feeling. It's probably just me though...
I’ve a vague intention to go back and shoot it again tonight with the tripod, if it’s not rainy or windy, just out of curiosity.

Thanks Rob, it is nice to be relaxed for a while and have time to have some fun, these comps do spur me to try new and different angles, I think Doc didnt get too many at first because its not warm enough yet to pooch around after dark, that's my excuse anyway!Good to see Lilly back entering too.

It's good to see, there are some wonderful last minute entries. Very original ideas on the theme, also. At least Andrew has some work to do.
And indeed, good to have you back, Lilly. It has been to long. Now you can start making us humble again.
Martin.

No, the avatar pic was taken AFTER the return of my beloved K20. I had a little session doing self portraits and then used local equalisation to 'roughen up' the face. I could be talked into posting the bigger version, looks quite funny...
Hope that Dr. Mhuni gets more than two shots to choose from...

Edit: P.S.: Maybe I'm looking a bit grim because my wife is away at sea...
