Hey !
Do not tell it is a bad theme again !

I'm with Ralf - it's not a bad theme at all. In fact I think it's an excellent one. But these fortnightly affairs have a habit of starting slowly.

Also like Ralf, I have something I want to shoot in mind - and a backup to turn to just in case. Don't expect anything before Tuesday, though!

It's a good theme Aiki. I haven't taken my shot yet but I'm keen to enter the competition. I'm waiting for some decent light up here in NE England. Although a lot of snow has melted and its now slightly above freezing, its dark and wet and miserable.

Aiki,

I just got my backup shot sorted and worked up. Let's see if plan A might materialise between now and the deadline...

It's 4pm and I am still struggling and I think I am busy most of next week. I had to help a daughter move house yesterday and so couldn't get to my favoured staircase - disaster as it's not open today!

That's pretty amazing Hefty Do you just invent the pattern yourself or they available somewhere? How do you get the folds to fold nicely?

Very clever, Hefty1! Did you look at Aiki's previous submissions to find out about her taste?

When I saw your shot I was immediately reminded of Aiki's curves submission...

I've always liked doing origami and paper craft so I happen to have several pattern books I've acquired over the years - this was from one of those. I can copy other people's patterns but I'm not competent enough to come up with my own by a long stretch!

The cutting part's quite easy - the folding is where it will all go wrong if it's going to. This is a fairly simple pattern (compared to some I've done in the past) and even so it took nearly two hours of fiddly fingerwork to get all the bits pointing in the right directions without tearing anything and going back to square one. At least the materials are cheap if you do need to start again.

I had honestly forgotten about that but now you mention it I'm glad I took this route after all!

Last time I entered a photo of one of my paper creations it was for the "Bonfire Night" comp back in November and I won that one - hence I thought I'd see if I could make it a double victory for my scissor skills.

I must say: Some pretty amazing quality is submitted this round.
Good luck Aiki, judging this one.
Best regards,

Martin.

I am glad I am not judging this one. Some lovely entries this time around. Please note: I got my entry in with 3 hours to spare, and took the image 11 days ago! No more Mr Last Minute... Well, that was my New Year's resolution, and you know how well they usually work out.

Lots of film bodies, a couple of digital ones, too many lenses (mainly older glass) and a Horseman LE 5x4.

Ralf,

How do you keep your stairs in such good condition :
Easy, just shoot them from below!
A tad inconvenient, I have to admit (should have done a 'making of', Prieni in limbo beneath the tripod, doing a fifth of a sit-up to look through the viewfinder).
