focus adjustment k10d
Yup, agreed, must be worth at least a quarter!
Martin.
But of course, I may be completely wrong about all of it...
That's cheap, Danny. But I'll guess after your latest acquisitions you don't have anymore to spend.
Martin.
So much so in fact, that it was only today that I realised that I hadn't gone out and bought a suit yet, had to run up town this morning, working out where the cash was coming from! Oops!
Whilst it is true that small formats have greater DOF, they also have a far higher requirement for accurate placement of the sensor/film plane. This is because they have very limited depth of focus this being the amount of leeway available at the sensor/film plane. This was the downfall of the 110 film format, because sufficient precision could not be reliably attained.
I used the USB connection with 1.30 Firmware and English version of the connect software. This makes it much easier than having to Flash Firmware.
I setup camera with 50mm lens on tripod with popup flash on, Test shot at f1.4 f2, f2.8, f4 & f8.
I also tested with 100mm macro and kit lens , results were same.
Camera adjusted to +90uM and focus seems fine now.
I take some shots on Saturday as I have a planned outing.
Hopefully this will now resolve my focus issues.
Cheers,
Gary.

Is there a link to it somewhere that I've missed?

The install seems to create a shortcut to GX10_DebugControlEng.exe, although the installed program file is called GX10_DebugControl.exe.
Only takes a second to fix though, and the buttons in English are most reassuring.

Caution!!! only use with Windows XP. The application dose not run well with Vista.

If you run it on Vista without crashing you are unable to turn off Debug mode.
I've only used it so far to turn on and off debug mode. I'm not brave enough to do any more just yet.
I too have not been 100% happy with the focussing of my K10D, particularly when the DA*16-50mm is in use, which is most of the time.
I'm using centre focus spot only for this test.
Q: Does anybody know if the vertical and horizontal can be adjusted separately. When tweaking the K10D, there are 4 AF test areas, are they individually adjusted?
Q: Does the K20D have these same 4 AF test areas?
What I've also noticed, since making the lanscape correction, just before I get focus confirmation, I get the centre red focus box lit, but also the top and bottom focus points flash for a moment. I'm guessing that that's because the focussing system sees all three points as being in focus. I don't get the same indication when the camera is in portrait orientation.
Any clues?
Edit: Having turned off debug mode, I no longer get all three focus boxes lighting up.
