Very impressive, Clarky, as all your macro work.
I wonder if I ever will come half way. I have a Pentax bellows kit with a 100 mm fixed lens, must try some closeups with it. But this time of year is virtually bug-free in this part of the world.

The bellows and 100m should get some good results, i have never used a bellows though and it may proove tricky with moving insects and thier like but would be handy for small inanimate objects like jewelery and copying slides. Very impressive, Clarky, as all your macro work.

My wife would like to move to your part of the world, she hates bugs

I love the detail in his eye!
I see it was taken with the trusty Tamron, have you had a chance to try out your D-FA100 yet?

I got 1 or 2 shots off last night when i was at work before it started pouring with rain, i also had the new ring flash on at the time, I still need a bit more practice with it yet. I love the detail in his eye!

The lighting is a little harsh but i did have it set to full output at the time.

Is the ring flash fully controllable manually or is it like some I've seen where you can basically select "full" or "half" only? I must admit I don't know much about this model at all...

Yep full and quarter is all you get and then you just stop down as required. Its a bit of a pain but until Pentax bring out a P-TTL model its all i got Is the ring flash fully controllable manually or is it like some I've seen where you can basically select "full" or "half" only? If it prooves to be hassle and the results are not what i like i will just go back to my 360flash

Its not that much different than with a normal flash, certainly not much weight too it. Could you post a picture of your macro setup? Just want to see how "big" the camrea looks like with a ring flash attached ...thanks..

If you ever saw that movie The Fly (the old version) when the fly was trapped in the web at the end and with that high pitched voice calling out Heeeelp meeeee. Well i had that going through my mind and i felt sorry for the little bugger

Nice shot though Clarky, this has got to be one of your best yet despite the fact that you cheated by photographing a "Captive Species"
I shot his cousin a while ago, not anywhere near as good as yours though, but in my defence he was crawling around
