Flucard non-compatibility

I'm just a little disappointed today.
I need to use the remote function of my K3 tomorrow evening, and I have a new mobile phone - HTC One.
My recently discarded iPhone 5s, current iPad and iMac all pick up the Pentax Flucard network, but guess what - the latest version of the Android operating system is not compatible.
Not happy - will have to lug around an iPad rather than a mobile phone!

Lots of gear - but not a lot of idea!

That's disappointing. I'm afraid that poor compatibility and inconsistency is the name of the game with all the different mobile OS systems. I've got a Windows phone, any chance it might work with that ?

I think the consensus generally is that people hope the flu-card solution will be dropped ASAP and replaced with internal WIFI .... Surely the electronics required now are tiny ...... ?

Agreed, it would seem only a matter of time before Pentax must surely go with internal wi-fi.
The cost cannot be prohibitive as it is now quite common in comparatively inexpensive cameras.
It also seems to be ridiculous that the Flucard will work with some versions of The Android operating system, but not the latest versions - Pentax getting left behind again?

I have a Flucard in a K5II, and an HTC One M8 running Android 5.0.1.

Remote capture works for me. Other than your camera being a K3, what else is different?

The K-S2 is the first Pentax DSLR with built in WiFi, so this might well indicate the way it will be with new models.
Best regards, John

Hi John,

You must be a witch doctor.
Since seeing your post I have been able to connect. I gave up earlier in the evening because, after I had made many unsuccessful attempts, a Ricoh employee told me during an online chat that I would not have any success with later versions of Android.
I really don't know what to say - but thank you,

ATB, Malcolm

So it's user error and not Pentax's fault

No it's Pentax's fault for not releasing the FF camera yet, and don't get me started on the lenses

In truth I find that you need to be set up ready in advance, i.e. browser open and ip address entered, etc, as I find that unless everything is done quickly the wireless connection drops out.
