I think the first shot is more pleasing The second shot has a seedhead leading out of the picture which I find quite distracting.

I, too, prefer the first - lovely bright colours. Are they a type of fuschia (is that the correct spelling??)?

Nice pictures darlene i like the second one best.I would crop the second on the left hand side to centre the flowers in the frame.

Agree with DaveM's comment about the seedhead being distracting - this could be cropped out? Otherwise I love the second one as the swirls of the flowers show a smoke like quality.

Thanks froumers.. I too like the second one the best...never notice the seedhead out to far...but I did not like the flower in center so that why I left the pods on the left.... YOU are always a great help....I will keeping strifing on....

"Lovely bright colours", "nice pictures", "great shot", praise indeed for rather mediocre images. I couldn't agree less.

I'm not trying to be cruel here Darlene, just honest.

These images look like snapshots taken on a dull cloudy day with no additional lighting to give the scene a much needed lift.

Sorry Darlene, not your best effort in my opinion.

Frankly, I think some users are far to quick to praise anything and everything that users display here.

I think Peter is right for two reasons.

First, whilst the subject matter was definitely worthy of shooting, the results could have been much improved if an effort had been made to enhance the lighting.

Second, and more importantly, this forum will become very dull, and this particular section quite useless, if posters simply praise pictures uncritically.

Darlene, I think you selected a good subject, and framed it well both times. But it needed more.

I completely agree with George, on all counts. Beautiful subject, but the overall images look a little dull, lacking that "pop" that could have been achieved by better light or maybe a flash. I also think the crop on the first one is a little tight on the left. Personally, I would clone out the seed head/bud on the second and crop a little to get the flowers more centred in the shot.

A good effort, just not "bang on the money" for me.

I was abducted by aliens for a while. Strange though I feel I have been away ages it seems like only two minutes to everybody else!!

Glad to see you are in fine fettle attending PU meetings in the lakes!

I hope to get to the Thorpe Perrow meet. I was there in May on a hawk walk - great way to spend an hour. (It was a Christmas present from my wonderful daughter. :lol I did't take any photos that day as it poured with rainso a return will be interesting.
