That's no news though is it? I never expected to see Pentax in the Flickr top fives, doubt it would be in the top 10s either.
I am quite surprised Kodak is 5th though in the brands thought Panasonic would be somewhere there, which says a lot as to why Pentax is not there.
The trend is there for the top 5 cameras to match or closely resemble the top 5 cameraphones. I love my iPhone had a 3G and now a 4 and in all likelihood I'd get the new iteration whenever it comes out this year. I will be one of the old heads though that don't see me being able to use it to take pics.

It's no surprise that Pentax is a no show. No mention of Panasonic either - that is more surprising! As is Kodak's appearance - but if you walk into Tesco's, the cheapest camera you will find will be one of those pedestrian Kodak P&S cameras, and you do see a lot of them. Usually residing in someone's handbag.

Not surprising really, Pentax users have never been 'sheep' following the herd and most probably don't use Flickr either. Have you seen the photos on there recently?

I am 'pentaxpete' on Flickr and try to keep the torch alight when I can but must admit I have been uploading photos from many of my 'other' cameras lately, especially a 'Free Gift' 1930's Voigtlander 'Brilliant'.

Yes, some fabulous stuff... I don't get the 'sheep following the herd' comment at all, particularly when you contrast this with us Pentax users. Perhaps it's because I just tend to see photos from my contacts and groups?

I thought now Flickr was starting to die a bit & all the cat lovers had started to leave the standard has improved a lot recently...Not surprising really, Pentax users have never been 'sheep' following the herd and most probably don't use Flickr either. Have you seen the photos on there recently?
Think you are being a little generalist in your presumptions

I'm sure there are some fab shots on Flickr- but its there as a photo sharing website there are no rules about the quality of images, it is very successful in this respect. I think it a little snobbish to berate Flickr for being popular.
Surely the reason Pentax are not on that list is the fact they sell a lot less cameras - nothing to do with this "sheep" analogy which is a bit of a myth for me.

The 'sheep' reference refers to the fact that a lot of first time buyers of cameras 'follow the herd', (canon/nikon) rather than doing a little research to find an equally good or better alternative. One reason Pentax sell less cameras.
Of course there are some cracking photos on Flickr.
The Sun newspaper is also popular, I don't think it has anything to do with the quality of it's content
