Anybody know of an alternative source for these pesky and absurdly expensive little screw caps for the K20/K5 etc.?

A rare example of inept design by Pentax, the caps on my K20 and K5 are both worn and jammed after fairly frequent use.

The equivalent cap on my K1000 still works fine after about 35 years use.

I find them a total PITA, I bought a hotshoe adaptor, helluva lot easier to slip on and off.

I have to say I find them ok except when they have gravitated to the lowest, furthest, darkest corner of the bag.

Yes I have a hot-shoe adaptor for when using a remote flash but the two macro ring flash units I use can only be connected via cable to the sync. flash socket.

What I object to is having to pay a fiver for one of these caps.
