Flash For LX - Guidance required
AF400T, 280T and 200T. The AF400T is a large Hammerhead Gun, the 280T is a Bounce-head Gun and the 200T is a small fixed-head Gun. All three compatible Guns have Green auto-computer eyes. All of these three guns are compatable with current Pentax auto-focus cameras.
The 400FTZ is a Bounce-Head flashgun for use on auto-focus cameras. It has an infra-red focussing beam device on the front.
I hope this helps

Sorry, more questions!?!
The AF400FTZ is a large hot-shoe mount swivel and bounce flashgun which was introduced to dedicate with the Pentax SFX, Pentax SFXn and SF7 autofocus cameras. I am fairly sure that it does not dedicate to the LX. I have tried my similar dedication Metz 40MZ2 with the LX and it does not work.
The best allround flashgun for the LX is the Pentax AF280T. These are still available new, but usually are fairly easy to find second-hand.
I agree that the labelling of the AF400FTZ and the AF400T is confusing.
The AF400T is a very large hammer-head gun on a very tall handle. With the battery module fitted it is larger than a Metz Hammer-head. This gun requires a sync lead either to the hot-shoe or the x contacts on the LX body.
Hope this helps

Having recently become the proud owner of a mint-condition, second-hand LX (to replace my broken ME Super), I am keen to use all of its' many features. In particular the TTL flash function. I've identified the AF400T as my "dream" flashgun and have started trawling the Net to find a used example. The words "hens" and "teeth" spring to mind. More readily available, it seems, is the AF400FTZ. Can anyone tell me if this model is similar/improved to the AF400T? Is it still TTL compatible with my beloved LX?
I would greatly appreciate some info on this.
