Have an AF260SA flash from my old P30N. Yesterday I purchased a 645n on Ebay and would like to know if I could use the two together until I can get the AF 500 FTZ?? Will I still get TTL use?? Anyone??

Hi,
The AF260SA will work with the 645 but you won't get TTL. For this you will need a gun with T in the suffix.

AFxxx Basic point and shoot
AFxxxA Tells camera to go to synch speed
AFxxxT Gives TTL with compatible camera
AFxxxSA Tells camera to go to synch and sets aperture in "A" mode
AFxxxF Has spot beam for autofocus
AFxxxFT Spot beam and I think TTL
AFxxxFTZ Spot beam, TTL and Zoom
FGZ Works like god and does everything (They say )

Hope this helps

Kim,

Very succinct, but what about S and C?

Kim,

Yes, C is the ringflash. S is a dedicated flash which can't operate in program mode. I think this means it will tell the camera to switch to flash sync speed, and will operate in auto mode, meaning that the flash will switch off when enough light has reached the sensor (on the flash).

Boz's site says that all auto flashes were also program flashes, but he says that program flashes were designated Sa. Where this leaves the AF200S I have no idea.
