Looking outside at the moment I can definitely conclude: Autumn is knocking on the door. Storm, rain and the first signs of changing colour on the trees. It made me think of a picture I took in Denmark, two years ago. By no means it compares to those "Indian Summer" examples we all know about. But still..... for me it brings back fond memories of that Autumnal holiday. (revisit scheduled next month October.:lol
Anyways....I hope you like it. C & C most welcome, as usual.

Beautiful burnt amber colour to the leaves Martin. I think it probably needs to be viewed as a large print to appreciate the details, as those leaves look pin sharp.

After a summer washout we certainly have those autumnal colours to look forward to.

Lovely colours but are you entirely happy with the way the branch bottom right leaks out of the frame? This is the sort of composition issue that bothers me and I'm not sure it should. I recall asking Lilly why she had cropped a teacup when as it was only a tiny cut she could have included it all which I would have done. She replied broadly speaking that she preferred it that way and had no problem with cropping part of the circle that made the cup.

Am I too bothered by enclosure I wonder?

Hi Mike,
If I wasn't happy with this shot, I wouldn't have taken it.

Seriously.....I know what you mean. And you are right. Ideally the branch should not be chopped off, like that. I could have cloned it out or give it a bit more space to live in, by separating the tree itself from the border. But....I wanted the tree bark to be there,so I made the choice to leave it. For the sake of interest I will have a go with some cloning to see if it is a big improvement. Will post it later , this day.
Actually....now I think of it, it may very well turn out in a big improvement.

Martin.
Best regards,

Martin.

I like the vibrant color against the washed-out grass.

Can't really decide which I like better. Leaning toward the first one.

It's not an improvement in fact is it? You need that splash of colour there to break up the mass of the trunk. So as usual my ideas didn't quite work out!

As a matter of fact, I like the edited version just a bit more.

So....time will tell, Mike. I uploaded the edited version to the PPG.
If it gets rejected, I'll hunt you down.

Martin.

(if it gets accepted, I'll will mention you in my will.)
Best regards,

Martin.

Sometimes I wish there would be no PP possbility !
It makes deciding even more difficult

In a way I like the first one better - it is more delicate. It fits the background so well, being at the same time bright and vivid.
The second is bold. It creates the contrast. The trunk is creatinga new theme, its dominating.

Both are good in their own way

Poor Mike, if its rejected
