Five in a Row - bforbes

So it's thanks to Carl, I have been invited to but up five photographs in a row, and his is not an easy set to follow.

What I thought I'd try and do is to illustrate my photographic journey so far. I hope to do this by showing how your associations with people and organisations can change where you think you were going and lead you to some unexpected outcomes.

When I gave up work some years ago my wife said " you will need a hobby. I'm not giving up my swimming, you need something to do". I'd always had a passing interest in photography and wildlife so I'll try that, and off I went.

A good opening shot Barrie.

Good DOF control here.

Yes, that little bird really stands out beautifully from the background , which is pleasing in itself.

That's a very good start, and I agree with Nigel about how well it works with the background.

That's an excellent shot Barrie. Is this Gosforth Park?

Goldfinch, teasel, superb DOF control.

What's not to like? A fine shot, Barrie.

Great start! The goldfinches near me only ever sit on the feeder.

I would have laid money on the first shot been a bird Barrie - and what a little cracker he is!

I love the muted tones of the background and 'perch' with the goldie's accent colors.

Nice start Barrie

A fine study, Barrie. (No surprises here but very sharp and full of feathery detail.)
Best wishes,

Andrew

A classic to start off with! You can't beat a Goldfinch on a Teasel. This one is very well shot, everything 'right' about it.

Thank you all for your kind comments on the first part of the journey (I'm sure there is a song in there some where)

The second part really started when I joined this forum. I'd been on a while when a meet at a Whitby Goth weekend was suggested. So off I went, had a great day and got to meet some very nice fellow Pentax users .

Not least because I was part of a group and the subjects were friendly, but it turned out to be a good introduction to street and people photography!!!

Hmmm, from one type of bird.

Well lit Barrie and good colour contrast. The background doesn't distract and adds interest.

Best regards
