Now that Sigma have announced new fisheyes for Pentax (Sigma Website), does anyone know the difference between a 'diagonal' and a 'circular' fisheye lens?

Yes. But assuming you would like it explained (sorry, tempted to do a 'George' and leave it at 'Yes' :lol, a circular fisheye will produce a circular image on your sensor, like Peter Elgar's shot here:

A diagonal fisheye is like the Pentax 10-17 zoom, so the image covers the full sensor.

Cheers Daniel, and thanks for not leaving it at just 'Yes!'

The diagonal fisheye has 180 deg. coverage from one corner to the diagonally opposite corner. The circular fisheye does have 180 deg. coverage from top to bottom and side to side, which create a circular image. Note that the diagonal fisheye has LESS than 180 deg. coverage anywhere except where stated before.
