First shot with F* 300mm

Bought this lens recently (paid way over what I wanted to) after reading glowing reviews about it - specifically the fact that it has excellent performance at maximum aperture (most long lenses I have used tend to require stopping down a bit before they become really sharp). Here is a simple shot of a Dutch Iris in the garden - I'm not great at post processing (picasa only for this one), so I'm sure I haven't made the best of the photo, but to me it has a beautiful "look", almost 3D.

I have got through a lot of Pentax lenses on my quest for the ideal line-up, and it has now transformed to a selection that heavily favours F* & FA* lenses

Embarassing - I've uploaded the shot I took with the FA* 85 instead - I told you I wasn't good at post-processing...or reading

That's really impressive, I will have to use my F* 300mm more now .. I didn't realise it could shoot at 85mm as well

In a hopeless attempt to cover my tracks before anyone notices (Yeah - like I'd get that past you lot ), here is what I should have uploaded (and it's f5 not f4.5).....

And just to complete the set, here's one taken with the FA* 80-200 (at f5.6)....

Sorry Doug - Unfortunately I don't have a 250-600 to make the same mistake with

It was only last year I got my first Autofocus star lens - it's cost me dear since then - I love chores

Some nice lenses there

Most of the Pentax 300mm * lenses are very similar in
performance. The F* I had did benefit from stopping
down by a stop. It was OK wide open, but not quite
as good as the DA* wide open.

I prefer about f/8 anyway with a 300mm for DOF.

Nice shots

Makes my budget lens line up look even more 'budget'
K10D, K5 plus plenty of clueless enthusiasm.

I've just cropped this one, and the detail that is retained is excellent..
