First K-5 IIs Prints

We've made the first A3 prints from the K-5 IIs and very impressive they are too.

Very pleased and hopefully one day we'll be able to buy a IIs or two.

I ordered a K5lls yesterday and i am really looking forward to seeing the print quality. I have been informed that if you put a Canon 5D Mark ll print and a Pentax K5lls print of the same image next to each other you can tell the difference, obviously using a good printer. if this really is true I will be a very happy K5lls owner.

What difference do those who informed you say they see Fletcher8?

The quality of the detail within a print is no different than that from a Canon 5D Mark ll if you view the same image taken on the two cameras in question, K5lls and 5DMark ll. Now that to me is very impressive, especially for landscapes which really test image quality and sharpness. Until I get my K5lls and test this for my self I can't confirm if this is fact, but I am very interested to see for myself. It is the potential improvement in sharpness and print quality of the K5lls that appeal to me personally, but I will be keeping my other K5.

Martin this may not answer your question, but I will provide some honest feedback once I have a K5lls and have printed out some work.

Martin, I have just looked at your website and your wedding images, some very nice work, were these images shot with Pentax equipment?

Hi Fletcher, no they were all Canon 5D mk2 which is what inspired me to ask the question to you. I have now replaced all my Canon gear with Pentax and on screen I cannot see much of a difference and in some areas there is an improvement. I will be sending off for prints in a few weeks as have my first wedding on Saturday with the new gear.

Do you know the size of the prints being looked at?

Martin, print size being looked at was at 16 " x 24" . Yes Mannesty I meant to say can't not can.

Well that is good news for prints I normally keep to 18 x 12. All the testing I have done points to the K-5 II being a very capable and better camera tham my Canon 5D Mk2s.

Martin. Completely off topic, looking at your wedding images can I ask what you were using lighting wise for some of the images where you have used flash? More specifically was the lighting manual or TTL. The Pentax flash system is its only weakness, although I am developing and learning some ways around its limitations which is also getting me to think about how I use flash. I really like some of the images you have taken in relation to how you have used light, really good to hear you are shooting Pentax I am really looking forward to seeing more of your work, as I think it will help inspire people.

Where flash was used it was always manual and never TTL. Canon flash wasn't that great either. I have two manual flashes and wireless flash triggers in the form of Flash Wave IIIs and plan to use them a lot on Saturday. A lot of the photographs are backlight which is very popular at the moment. But mostly try and use natural light.
