first go at macro?

not sure if classed as macro or not, just taken with the kit lenses. 18-55, 70-200.

Do you know, I do loads of macro stuff and I have no idea what is classed as macro and why. Not sure if you have to use a macro lens or the magnification has to be a certain size.

Very nice pictures anyway ....

They look pretty good to me, like the strict yellow and green colour palette.

All really nice, my understanding of Macro is, Macro photos should be a minimum ratio of 1:1 with no maximum 1:1 is life size, 2:1 is twice life size and 1:2 is half life size, although I could be wrong.

About macro it used to mean 1:1 magnification I believe but nowadays it means that the subject is bigger in real life when printed on 6"x4" paper... don't ask me why though
Now everything below 1:5 magnification (depending on the sensor) can be classified as macro

Re macro: On 35mm film the image had to be actual life size on the negative to be classed as proper 1:1 macro.
Dunno how this changes regarding digital...
Need the mathematicians among us!

This was not a hard and fast rule. A macro lens is any lens designed for close-up photography. The main requirements are that it should be sharp and focus close.

Although "it's what's behind the camera, not what's in front that matters", in the case of macro photography there really is no substitute for using the right equipment.

That doesn't HAVE to be a proper macro lens. Reversing a sharp 50mm gives excellent results, and extension tubes likewise (again, with a sharp lens to start with).

It's also important to have lots of light so that you can use a small aperture and increase the depth of field.
