First attempt at macro

Hi.
Good first go.
Did you notice that the top of the coin in the secong shot isn't in focus?
Depth of Field in Macro is virtually 0. Try the coin again with it perfectly perpendicular to your lens.
Another way to get SOME DOF, is a smaller aperture - this requires as much light as you can throw on the subject.
Macro work is fun - and hot.

Still not sure what all the dials mean on the camera. I'm still reading the manual and trying to understand all the different photographic terms and how to apply them.
I did notice the out of focus bit, but couldn't get a proper overhead using the tripod.
I have so much to learn.
Light is a problem for me indoors but I have a few ideas to get around that without using a flash although I do have a Pentax AF-360FGZ TTL Flashgun which again I need to read up on how to use it.
First time I've used my new camera and first time the new lens has been attached.
I'm kindof pleased at first glance at the quality of the lens and I am sure I will be very pleased over the next few weeks/months as I get more familiar with the new equipment.

Just trying it out on a pound coin.
No flash and basic settings.
