First attempt at fireworks

I think you're being a bit hard on yourself - these are a pretty good set of Fireworks shots - It's not as easy as some people make it appear, I suspect that it's one of those subjects that once you've established your settings/technique then you can allow the creativity to layer on top.
I've never achieved a half-decent Firework shot

I agree with Lenny above... have never had a go at fireworks myself, so well done for getting out there and having a shot at it... am not an expert in this field (have a look at Stu Marsden's shots from New Year if you have a minute - pretty impressive stuff) but looks to me like you got the exposure pretty much there, certainly from no. 2 onwards... personally, I rather like the drift in the wind... am all for a bit of imperfection... gives the fireworks shapes a more feathery, abstract feel, which I'm sure you could use to your advantage once you've got the hang of it... I also rather like what's happened with the blue (glowstick?) thing in the foreground of no. 1... could be worth investigating further next time you're out... Anyway, really good effort I'd say first time up...

Looks fine to me. What more had you hoped for?
Typically the way to progress from this is to include more foreground objects, so they become landscape photos of towns etc, with fireworks in the mix.
As presented these are in focus, and with a suitable shutter speed and focus point.

These all look fab to me. The opening image with the people silhouetted really gives perspective to the image, I prefer it to the similar 2nd as the shafts of light between the spectators break up that area so it's not so dark.
3, 4 and 5 are all good, nicely captured and perfect exposure duration.

Lat night I had my first go at shooting fireworks. Unfortunately I feel things didn't go very well. Things were not helped by quite a stiff breeze which caused the fireworks to drift in the sky. Below are a few examples of the best of a poor lot. Your C&Cs would be appreciated.
All shot with K1 and HD FA 24-70.
Thanks for viewing.
