How do you think the firmware can affect damping?Initial impressions - the focus on my DA55-300 does seem faster, maybe slightly more damped, but it has made little difference to my DA*50-135.
Or in non geek speak, It will.

I know the software controls the servo, but how does the servo affect damping? Does it slow down gradually as it comes to a stop? I don't think so. It still seems to move in hard jerks. I think people's imagination is getting the better of them with this firmware update.

When the servo is first given a change in demand position, it will create a large drive signal to the motor and the damping term which backs off this signal will be small. As the demand position is neared, the damping signal gets larger to prevent overshoot.

Beginner it is really easy to do believe me. I am hopeless with computers - that's why I have a husband - but I have done it. Just download it and follow the instructions in the readme file. It couldn't be easier.

Just an additional note, to be sure that the camera can read the card correctly you can format the card in the camera.Beginner it is really easy to do believe me. Then put the firmware file on the card and follow the instructions. It's basically a fool proof update, just make sure the battery is charged.

I flash devices so often that I am not scared about it anymore. The only downside is that the camera doesn't have a easily accessible JTAG interface in case something goes wrong.

That flashing LED is indeed a little scary because the instructions does not mention this behaviour.
