Firmware update

+This morning I bought a K70 which worked fine with the new Pentax 55-300 PLM lens.I noticed that there was a firmware update to version 1.10.I installed the firmware which shows as installed on the camera in firmware info and now the only lens that will not work in any mode is the new 55-300 PLM. On the rear screen it shows as manual focus but will not focus manually either.Has anyone else had this problem and if so have you resolved it.Thanks.Peter

I've seen a few posts referring to problems with this lens, which have sometimes been down to the fact that it won't work unless opened fully. Any chance that's the problem here? 😚

Hi John,Thanks for the reply,no will not work in any position,worked ok trying camera out in the morning,upgraded camera to 1.10 attached lens,now shows MF on rear screen but will not manually focus either.Tried lens on K1,K3ll all with latest firmware and will not work on any. Peter

According to pentax website firmware is specifically for this lens, can you try to do it again (is this even possible?)

Have you truly ascertained whether the problem lies with the lens or the camera? Until you have it will be tricky to resolve.

Hi Roy, Thanks for the reply. Yes I did downloaded the firmware again but still the lens would not work.My immediate thoughts were that the firmware had not loaded correctly but when I tried the lens on the K3ll and K1 it did not work on either camera,seems to be a fault within lens which is 1 week old never yet been used so my retailer is changing it for me.Peter

Had you opened the lens beyond its default closed 'white dot' position to 55 or beyond? It will give an error unless you do, though the message says to actually open it or something to that effect.
