Filter Systems for 10mm

I have a Samsung GX-20D, effectively a K20D but in a different body. My question doesn't relate to the camera itself, but the options for filter setups and opinion gathering.

The problem;
I have the k mount Tamron 10 - 24 lens and I love it. I rarely have it off my camera and love shooting landscape with it. I use the cokin p wide angle adapter at the moment which is limited. I like to use a CPL and of course, I get vignetting from 10 - 12mm when both are used together.

I am wanting to upgrade, but I would like to know if anyone has experience of using a slim 77mm CPL with a hitech filter holder. I assume I can use a Lee filter in the hitech filter holder as long as they're the same width (which I think they are, 100mm?) and is there any vignetting whilst using a slim CPL between the lens and the filter holder?
I really cannot decide/work out which system I need because there's various step up rings, rings, and the modular filters. Buying a Lee CPL is not an option right now at £150ish!

I hope someone can help.

Thanks

Hi Chris

Have you tried taking a hacksaw to a cokin P holder and cutting it down to just having one slot? I did this for use on my 10-20 and it worked. I use Hitech filters in the Cokin P holder as they are the same size so do not see how buying a hitech holder would help? Perhaps Lee are bigger but I am not sure

I use Nds mainly in this system. I do not use the cokin/ hitech or Lee CPLs as i prefer screw in CPL filters - to me they are much easier to handle. I have found the Kenko pro 1 digital series to be very good at a fraction of the price of the Lee (think I paid around £60 for mine) . All depends on the size of filter thread though - I have 2 of the Kenko's in a 77mm thread but now have a dilemma as I need an 86mm for my Sigma 150-500 - but Kencko do not make bigger than 82mm

Hiya Carl,
Ta for the reply.
sorry about the post, I wasn't clear. I do have a wide angle P holder and it has just one slot. I also have a slim screw in CPL. When I put these two together I get vignetting in the corners. I thought the Hitech was different since they do filters that are 100mm, not 85mm like the cokin P. I was wondering if the Hitech filter holder for the 100mm filters could be used with a slim screw on CPL without vignetting at 10mm.

Cheers

Hitech do filters at 85mm (that fit the cokin P system) and 100mm (that fit cokin Z system). 100mm should be wide enough to cope with the viewing angle but I would be worried about vignetting being caused by the rim of the circular polariser and the rim of the step-down ring to attach the filter holder.

If you are based in London you could pop down to Formatt/Hitech and ask to try out the combo.
You will only prise my 43Ltd from my cold, dead hands...

Ah I wish I lived in London just so I could go ask! Every camera shop I have asked up here in the North, have shrugged their shoulders as if I am speaking a foreign language. Bloody useless they are!
Am I right in thinking there's a CPL that will fit in the step down/up ring? I have been researching all day whilst at work, much to the annoyance of my boss, and I just cannot fathom all the bloody choices. Someone said to me "why not just use it at 12mm and stick with what you have?" but my answer was pretty straightforward... "..if I wanted 12mm I would've bought a 12mm lens!"
