Film & trannie scanners

We have a high quality slide copier at work (desk-top sort with a light source, dial in colour adjustment etc.) which was bought when we all used film. Our photographer uses it to quickly copy slides to digital. It is much faster than scanning and no crop involved as you can zoom in and out. Some of our staff had very large collections of teaching slides and he has used it very successfully to digitise them. Certainly good enough for teaching but I don't see why it shouldn't work for high quality images too.

I wondered what the heck you meant till I did a bit of googling

I have a Pentax bellows kit with a slide copier attachment. Have tried a couple of slides, and the result is promising, just need some more practice to get the exosure right.

The light source is my AF-360FGZ set up for remote control and manual exposure. That way the colour balance is about right.

There is no cropping, as the aps-c sensor just requires a 0.66 magnification to cover the full 35 mm slide.

That sounds interesting Kris, the problem is the quantity I have which I would love to do. Maybe we can have a word at a later date.

Like you I was flabberghasted at the scale of the problem.

In the end I chose to have a CD produced at the time of developing with new films.

Old films are currently sitting waiting for me to do something with them!

Oh well...
