It's that time of year when we need to compile the list of gifts we would like the old man with the white beard to leave at the foot of our beds on the 24th.

So tell me what's on your list of the following...

1. that special litle gadget that you want but will never use

2. that item that the family can afford but will not get you because they don't want to encourage you too much

3. the item that is just an absolute dream

1. An iPhone- I rarely text or call people but I like the photography apps like depth of field master (?)

2. Probably one of those Panasonic 3mos camcorders

3, A classic convertible Mercedes Benz SL in silver.

1. A Samsung Galaxy SII. I like the idea, but like Jasper I hardly ever use my ancient Nokia.

2. A Trekpod

3. A new house.

In reality we've agreed to spend no more that €25 on a present this year - we each by just one present, in my case for one of my daughters-in-law plus presents for the grandchildren.

Hmm, have an iphone, never use it - total nightmare so...

1. A spice mill

2. More chickens

3. A ridiculous, glorious, hand crafted, wrought iron bed!

Gwyn, its the presents for the grandkids that cause a problem

They are only 5 and 2 so they are fairly easy still - Lego for the 5 year old and toy cars for the 2 year old. Either that or books for them both.

I'm just glad I drew a daughter-in-law and not one of my sons.

If I had a smart phone I could join in consulting them every few seconds and playing silly games on them (usually with each other :roll.

I remember going to an industrial estate in Lanashire some years ago wher one of the units was offering :-
"Genuine Antique Victorian Bedsteads - Made to order"

My list
1- A compas plane (nothing to do with photography and something I've managed without for nigh on 50 years)
2- A flash slave - but like last year it was considered that I went around flashing too much anyway
3- Another 50-60 Christmases - I need to get back the pension I've paid into the system over the years

My list:

1. Pentax GPS device because I always forget to record where I was and my wife never remembers.

2. A carbon fibre monopod for those tmes when you need a little support. 'I thought that you had all the gear now...that cupboard is full and I need the space to store things...'

3. A little more memory so that I can remember, understand and use all the clever things that modern cameras and post processing can do

The classic fondue set springs to mind.....NOT

2. that item that the family can afford but will not get you because they don't want to encourage you too much

In my case that will probably be a bottle of Scotch, and despite not wanting to encourage me they will buy it because its an easy option

3. the item that is just an absolute dream

Well there is absolutely no chance of that, besides Pentax didn't make a red lens to go with it
My Names Alan, and I'm a lensaholic.

(Just One) Return to work, in order to fill my life again.

Been retired three and a half years approx, and hate it.

Take care.
