Fashion Lingerie Shoot

We went down to the forest yesterday to shoot some shots for my Fiance's final university collection. Inspired by the Balinese Barong dance!

Only asking Why have you not used Portrait Mode? seems a bit tight on the top & bottom and a lot of space to the left.

We wanted the depth of the forest adds to the atmosphere

The lighting looks a little odd to me in that she sands out from the darker background in a slightly unsubtle way but maybe that was your intention.

I prefer the last one, just because I think the pose works better. I personally think the lighting is spot on, and the depth of the forest does add to the atmospere. Good effort - very good effort in fact.

I've been trying to get some good portrait shots under my belt, and still have'nt really managed it. Wish I was churning out work like this

I agree with Bob. Lovely concept and clever lighting. Nice clothes too!

I spend loads of time in the woods but never see anything like this.

I like your lighting but it might have been worthwhile hiring a professional model. Somebody would have done it on a 'time for pictures' basis to get pics this good.

Interesting you say you like the lighting - I don't (to be blunt) can you expand on why it's good lighting as this is something I don't really understand. To me on my screen (and that may be the issue) she's popping out rather - is this desirable in this context?

If the main aim is to show off the lingerie, it doesn't do it. I like the shots, but for me, it doesn't accomplish the goal. Some of the shots show almost no detail because you have subtle lighting, dark clothing, and dark background.

I like these shots, the atmosphere that is created and the subtle lighting. The model (your fiancee I presume) looks almost nymph or fairy-like - I hope that's the kind of atmosphere you were going for!

I still would have composed the shots in portrait, I think you would have achieved the same feel. You could then have got a little closer to the subject maybe, and shown off the lingerie more - which I would imagine is priority with these shots.

But I still like them!

Personally I think the poses are awful...that's me being totally blunt there! I'm trying to single one out to use as an example but they are all weird. Weird as in the model looks very awkward, the poor girl doesn't look comfortable in any of the shots. I would say that the 2nd one is the worst for me as she looks like she is being pulled back into the tree, really not sure what you were trying to achieve there! If I had to say which was the best pose then I would have to say number 5, but it's to full on, she should be slightly turned.

The shots aren't showing Fashion or Lingerie as the model is far to far away.

I agree with what others are saying that they should have been shot as portraits. In fashion, people aren't worried about the foliage, the main thing is the clothing and the model.
