Thanks Alan.
There weren't that many puffins going about with the Sand Eels so you might be OK waiting a while.
I took the 1.7x with me and used that with the 300 as needed. I was hampered getting the terns when the 50-135 SDM focus packed in. Pentax SDM lenses are not my favourite just now

Great images Barrie the 3 puffins I think is magic.
Having been to the Farnes well over a 100 times kayaking it is one of the best if not the best wild life locations on the North east coast. Just wish I had lugged a camera along with me.

Great set Barrie, #4 is really superb! #2 needs a lift to the shadows, but is another superb image. What I really like about these is that they have personality, which really adds something for me.

Have you tried it on both your bodies Barrie?
Thanks Alan.

If we are talking about the 50-135, Yes and a K20, no go on any.

Love the seal shot. That could be given taglines and spend a lifetime going round facebook haha.

some very nice shots there. Shame about the board / poster on 1st one as without that I'd love the shot, but it's too distracting. I guess sometimes one has to take the shot, even if not quite as we'd like, or get no shot.
Nice vibrant colours and nice and sharp images .

The image is meant to be ironic Mike. When you land on this particular Farne Island you are in the middle of a colony of nesting Terns who, quite rightly, are defending their eggs and young. So they welcome you by swooping down and pecking at your head. Hence the reason for the shot.

Well I'm up to see my brother in Durham at the weekend and then off to the Farnes with two chances, Sunday and Monday so fingers crossed. Just hope I can get some shots as good as yours. Will probably take my 300 + the fab new 1.4x converter. Do I need something shorter as well, maybe the 100mm + converter although I will have the 18-250 for any wider shots.
