Good point. Gritty realism: didn't want them too pretty...except the first one, and I had to fade the colour in that one to tone it down a bit!
Of course on the odd occasion I do post a vibrant colour shot members always say: "Would make a great mono converstion."!
Best wishes,
Andrew

Andrew, I like the last one.

No 3. Looks like it needs a little 'punch' though

Thanks Emma,
Chaque un a son (or sa) conversion, I suppose!
Perhaps no.3 is a bit "grey" in retrospect. Glad you like them (mostly).
Regards,
Andrew

Yes, a little muted colour for the first (opening) shot and then mono for the rest. Another wonderful series Andrew. Sad how its more profitable to store things than operate a farm, same thing is happening here also. Unless we grow/produce our own or go out of the way, most food on local shelves is marked Product of USA. I understand land isn't being made anymore yet it seems more and more of it is being covered with rock and mortar. Thank you for doing such a superb job of recording what will pass.

Stephen

I gladly welcome C & C's. Being foggy minded they really help me learn.

Andrew, these are a great set of documentary photos. I would like to see more, like an insight into the farmer's way of life and more of what you describe in your introduction.

Thnaks folks...glad these struck a chord.
Maybe in retrospect I should have given all the shots the same treatment as no.1 to unify them a bit more, Mat.
Stephen, It is odd that the population iof the world keeps growing, we are constantly told to buy local produce to reduce the carbon footprint yet, even in a county like Somerset which used to produce masses of fresh milk, farmers are going out of business and our milk comes from further and further away!
Pauly, the farmer was a most unfriendly type who accosted me, believeing I was photographing his security system, casing the joint, as it were, preparatory to making off with his clients' caravans! He calmed down and eventually accepted my reasons for being there, not withstanding the fact that I remained on the road or footpath throughout, which is why some of the framing was compromised.
He'd built a new "farmhouse" in a kind of post Soviet grey reconstituted brick while all about him seemed to decay.
Best wishes,
Andrew

I quite like the de-saturated look and feel of the first shot Andrew, it suits the subject. The BW shots, as always, make a viewable series.
