Lovely and crisp, especially No. 1. The lens has a good range, covering the 'gap' between the Pentax zooms. What are your first impressions of it?

I like # 3 - that horse has a lovely eye - very 'kind' and his face is showing interest in what's going on . Look at those ears - he's alert and listening intently.

Thanks folks! I must admit that was a little surprising - I expected the goat to be the most popular and the sheep to be least! I liked the goat
The goat shot is at f2.8, i.e. small DOF which is why his mouth and nose are out of focus. In fact all the shots were wide open, the two horse shots and the goat shot were at 28mm f2.8, the sheep shot was at 58mm f3.5.
i-Berg, I like the lens, but with some caveats!
Pros: Useful range. Quite sharp, especially stopped down 1 stop. Corner sharpness is also good, even wide open. Very fast focus, I guess due to the tiny focus throw (I'd estimate approx 25 degrees). Inexpensive, mine was £49 from Castle Cameras.
Cons: Heavy barrel distortion at 28mm. Loses a little sharpness at 105mm. Tiny focus throw means manual focussing is virtually impossible. Quite plasticky. Large 72mm filter size, in fact quite a large lens in general. My copy suffers from zoom creep if the zoom is set to 70mm or more and you hold the lens vertical.

Thanks Tim - the autofocus is doing it for you then, so the +ves look like they will outweigh the rest. The proof of it is in the images, and with the ones here, it should do you proud.

Very interesting set. The first and second are my fav's. Very sharp and clear. Zoom creep can be annoying, but otherwise appears to be a very nice lens.
