Eyecup F

Looking for a replacement Eyecup for a Pentax SFXn. I know it's a real old camera but does anyone have any suggestions for a replacement if not a source of an "original"

Don’t know what size is required for your Pentax SFXn, but if any help as a guide. The eyecup from my K10d, will fit the Spotmatic II, like a glove.

Best gestimate is 22mm across on the view finder, and the flanges of the old eyecup about 20mm if that makes any sense Height is about 15mm Will have to keep a look out at carboot sales etc.

Just measured the fitting on the Spotmatic II, and it is as near as “dam it” is to swearing 22x15mm.

Keep an eye on ebay for a tidy but dead SF-series to take a replacement from? They often come up cheaply body-only.

I think the SF7/SFX/SFXn used the same eyecup.

It shouldn't do all eyepieces from the ME onwards were about 2mm bigger?

About 15 years ago my SFXn eyepiece split and I asked in a shop
and couldn't believe he had a brand new one in a drawer, so it's
worth asking around the dealers.

Yes it does fit, I needed an eyecup for the Spotmatic II, so just tried the one from my K10d, perfect fit, so just ordered a K10d replacement eyecup job done.

That sounds like when someone lost the only key to a cupboard at a place I used to work. The person who lost it went to see if he'd dropped it in the car park. When he came back the cupboard was open and someone was getting stuff from inside. He shouted out "Did you manage to find a key that fits it then?" to which the person who opened the cupboard said "No I found one that didn't fit, but opened it all the same"

I got one recently on eBay.

However it should be mentioned that the M series and onwards is a different fit to the Spotmatics and the SFXn is unique in having an optical link in the eyepiece to enable you to see the flash ready light. Other eyecups will fit but you lose this function.

how could you clean the eyecup inside whenn it gets durt init ?

As far as I know the eyecups have no glass in them?

You could therefore clean it with warm soapy water by hand, rinse, dry somewhere warm and refit to the camera.

If you've got dirt on the viewfinder glass then it can be removed with a microfibre cloth just as with a dirty lens. If it's on the inside then it's slightly more complicated, and unless you're happy taking cameras apart it's a professional job.
