I am not keen on over-saturated colours, but these seem under-saturated to me. Is that deliberate, or does your monitor need calibrating?

These and your previous sets remind me of my time on the Avon. I like no. 3 and 5 quite a bit. Nice clarity and evening light. Saturation looks OK to me, they look quite cool but I don't mind that. Nice to see a bit of industry included. Especially as the rising steam looks so good backlit.

At first look, they don't wow you, but on further inspection, these are quite good! Some of them (particularly 3 to look like their a bit HDR!
Good job, thanks for sharing!

LOL Omly took about 3000 photos with dslr so i don;t think i will be wowing just yet and i don;t know why it says pentax master under my name just taking photos at the moment but do find landscapes and the processing of them a bit difficult, might stick to wildlife

Yes, but I have just remembered that I am viewing on my laptop, which is not exactly wonderful itself.George Lazarette wrote:

Actually George I agree with you, with the exception of the first shot all of them are lacking any warmth which in turn is giving a feeling of under saturation, composition aside the problem with the majority of these is the lack of decent lighting, the last two in particular.
To be totally honest (re composition) with the exception of the first shot the rest just look like snaps to me (sorry Philip) having said that I am useless at Landscapes and wouldn't know what to look for anyway, perhaps your like me and destined to shoot wildlife

Yes, Alan, I think this is the problem. They were shot on a dull day, and there's not much you can do to rescue a picture shot in poor light.
Nipper, I'd recommend going back on a sunny evening, if you can wait for one.

Also spotted some white egrets today and another pair of kingfishers but don.t think my backs up to it yet i/ve been using my sigma 10-20 but don;t really like it for landscapes find it to wide, there anyway, been using 16 45 today found that better, just a couple from today these look pretty good in full res on my laptop pity the chimneys did'nt have smoke bellowing out of emYes, Alan, I think this is the problem. It looks to me like some of these (the halo round the post in 7 in particular) have already been given a sort of HDR effect. What processing did you do to get to these images - in-camera or later on the computer?
As far as composition goes the difficulty is always that the actual scene might be a bit dull. You mentioned that you find the 10-20 too wide, it is certainly worth trying to get more impact by using the abrupt perspective of such a lens - try a much lower viewpoint or the lens angled down a lot to get something that goes from close to distant. Hard to say though - I wasn't there!
